Hartmann Valves GmbH

Multi-way ball valves

Metal-seated special valves

Multi-way ball valves are used wherever reliable switching between pipelines or media is required. Typical applications include switching units in filtration systems or switching between different media, for example fuels on turbines.

Hartmann Valves offers gas-tight, metal-to-metal sealing multi-way ball valves that, thanks to precise design, high tightness and reliable switching functions, enable continuous plant operation even under demanding conditions.

For precise and safe process control

Designs & special solutions

Different ball porting options (L, T or X) as well as flexible angle and connection configurations make it possible to implement customised switching and distribution functions. Multi-way ball valves are available as 3-way (L/T), 4-way or distribution ball valves (X), or as mechanically coupled switching units.

The trunnion-mounted design ensures stable guidance of the ball even under asymmetric loads, while spring-loaded sealing rings ensure reliable sealing in all pressure conditions. Mechanical coupling of multiple valves enables precisely synchronised switching—crucial for safe, repeatable and uninterrupted processes, even at high actuation frequencies

In addition, Hartmann Valves delivers a wide range of special solutions for specific applications, including ball valves with throttling function for controlled pressurisation, shut-off ball valves with integrated check valve, “slurry” ball valves for heavily contaminated media, hot-tapping valves in piping, and safety shut-off valves with actuation times of under one second. The portfolio is complemented by high-pressure valves in top-entry design, valves for filling systems and metering runs, TA Luft-compliant versions, as well as customer-specific special face-to-face lengths and connections.

Filter switching (continuous operation), switching between media (e.g. turbine operation), distribution and switching units, process plants with redundant systems

Reliable shut-off

Our metal-to-metal sealing system

Metal-to-metal sealing ball valves are designed for applications where soft-seated systems reach their limits. They are used wherever demanding media, extreme pressures and temperatures, or very high actuation frequencies require permanently reliable shut-off. The gas-tight sealing system meets leak rate A and ensures permanently reliable shut-off.

The tightness of our valves is verified through technical testing in accordance with the relevant regulations and the applicable product standard. Our internal standard exceeds the requirements of common test standards such as API 598 and DIN 12266. This provides a robust basis for very high shut-off tightness in demanding applications. The internal definition of leak rate A is based on DIN ISO 5208.

The metal-to-metal sealing between the ball and seat rings ensures high wear resistance, reduced maintenance requirements and a long service life.

Certified safety for demanding processes

Our high-performance valves meet national and international standards, including:

  • TA Luft
  • ISO 15848
  • API 6D
  • DGRL
  • AD 2000

FAQ

Multi-way ball valves are used when switching between pipelines or media is required. Typical applications include filter switching or switching between different media, for example fuels in turbine systems.

Spring-loaded sealing rings ensure reliable sealing in all pressure conditions. Combined with the trunnion-mounted design, this creates a robust system for repeated switching.

Balls with L, T or X porting are available. This enables both simple switching operations and complex distribution functions.

Yes, mechanical coupling allows multiple valves to be switched in exact synchronisation. This is particularly important for safety-critical switching units.

Yes, Hartmann develops project-specific solutions—from special face-to-face lengths to high-cycle versions and complex switching logic.
