Medium-sized family business invites to Open Day on August 22nd in Ehlershausen
Celle/Ehlershausen. When Dipl.-Ing. Werner Hartmann founded his company in Ehlershausen in 1946, it was hardly foreseeable that valves from this location would one day be used in energy systems worldwide. Today, the Celle-based family business employs around 230 people at its production sites in Celle and Burgdorf-Ehlershausen and is managed in its third generation by the founder’s grandchildren. Hartmann Valves now wishes to celebrate its 80th anniversary together with the region and is therefore inviting everyone to an Open Day at the factory premises of its founding location in Ehlershausen on Saturday, August 22.
The development of Hartmann Valves reflects the transformation of the energy industry. For many decades, the company was primarily active in the oil and gas industry, but also in chemistry and petrochemicals, developing valves for applications where safety and reliability are crucial. At the same time, Hartmann Valves recognized the potential of new energy technologies early on. As early as the late 1970s, the company supplied the geothermal project in Bruchsal, thus engaging in geothermal energy at a time when renewable energies were barely in the public eye. Today, its products are used in geothermal energy, hydrogen, and CO₂ storage, among other applications. In doing so, Hartmann Valves has accompanied the transformation of energy supply for almost five decades, combining its long-standing experience in the conventional energy industry with solutions for the energy supply of tomorrow.
From August 20 to 22, the family business will celebrate its anniversary together with customers, business partners, employees, and guests from politics and business. The celebration concludes on Saturday, August 22, with an Open Day, to which all interested parties are cordially invited.
Visitors will have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of a company whose products usually remain invisible in everyday life. During factory tours, they will learn how high-precision ball valves and wellheads are manufactured from steel and what role these play in a secure energy supply. Employees from various departments will provide insights into their work and be available for questions.
As a medium-sized family business, it is important for Hartmann Valves to celebrate this anniversary together with the people from the region. Therefore, the Open Day is aimed at visitors of all ages. In addition to factory tours and insights into development and manufacturing, guests can expect a varied supporting program with various exhibitors, a children’s program with a bouncy castle and hands-on activities, as well as food and drinks.

We are deeply grateful to be able to continue this company in its third generation today,” says CEO and grandson of the company founder, Werner Hartmann. “However, the people who have accompanied Hartmann Valves throughout all these years are particularly important: our employees, customers, partners, and many companions from the region. This anniversary is therefore primarily an occasion for us to say thank you. We look forward to welcoming many familiar and new faces on the Open Day.”
