Hartmann Valves GmbH was recently awarded the BSFZ Seal for its innovative spirit in industry. The seal of the Certification Office for the Research Allowance (BSFZ) recognises companies that invest in research and development (R) to drive innovation in Germany. The award is intended in particular to encourage SMEs to invest more in research and development, thereby strengthening the country’s innovation capability.
Research and development has played an important role at Hartmann Valves since the company was founded in 1946. As early as the mid-1950s, the company patented the ball valve. Further innovations followed in the decades that followed, and in the mid-1980s the fully metal seated ball valve was developed, which continues to set a global standard to this day.
In 2019, the company reached another milestone and separated research and development from operational design engineering. “Separating research and development into a dedicated department enables us to develop new products and innovations even more intensively,” says Christian Hartmann, Managing Director of Hartmann Valves GmbH. “As an SME, the BSFZ Seal also enables us to demonstrate our innovative spirit externally. We are proud to have been awarded the BSFZ Seal and see this as a commitment to continue driving pioneering innovations in the future. Our goal is to inspire our customers with high-quality products and solutions while also contributing to technological progress in Germany,” Christian Hartmann continues.
Hartmann Valves GmbH is receiving the BSFZ Seal for two research projects that have been eligible for funding since 2021: the development of high-pressure and high-temperature oxygen valves, and the development of control ball valves. With these projects, Hartmann Valves aims to set new standards for ball valves in the field of oxygen valves.
