Innovative Ball Valve Design with Integrated Heating Jacket Wins Valve Stars Award

On the occasion of Valve World Expo 2022 in Düsseldorf, the Valve Stars Awards were presented in the categories of valves, actuators, sealing, and automation. In the “Valves” category, Hartmann Valves won with its innovative ball valve design with integrated heating jacket. The new ball valve design is distinguished by the integration of the heating jacket.

In special applications, heating of valves is necessary to keep the medium flowable. Traditionally, double jackets for heating the valve are welded onto the outer area of the valve body. By integrating the heating jacket in the interior space of the ball valve body, the welding of double jackets can be eliminated on the one hand, and on the other hand, the shorter distance between the heating medium and the medium to be heated can be utilized, as the shorter distance can significantly improve heat transfer. The purely metallic sealing of the valve also ensures that even if solids are contained in the medium, the essential sealing elements (seat rings) are not damaged or destroyed. The space-saving design also enables simple installation of bolts and nuts on the connecting flanges.
