Switching to Christmas Trees with Integrated Ball Valves
As part of the overhaul of several Christmas trees for gas production, a completely new construction design was chosen: instead of Christmas trees with gate valves, solid block Christmas trees with integrated ball valves have been in operation at several locations in Northern Germany since 2018. This concept combines the benefits of a compact design with the advantages of gas-tight ball valves over gate valves—at high and especially at low pressures. Another decisive factor was the positive experience with safety ball valves as supplementary emergency shutdown valves in surface facilities. The innovative design, developed in close cooperation between Hartmann Valves and the operator, not only ensures increased safety and ease of operation but also significantly reduces maintenance requirements.
