Celle, June 2026. Developments in the European geothermal market are increasingly gaining momentum in Canada and North America. In particular, Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and demanding HP/HT applications are becoming key growth drivers in the course of the global energy transition.

Driven by decarbonization, energy security, and the utilization of existing expertise from the oil and gas industry, new geothermal projects are increasingly emerging in Canada with high requirements for the reliability, operational safety, and service life of the technologies used. Many market requirements mirror current developments in Europe.

Existing infrastructure as well as extensive experience in drilling and fracking can be efficiently utilized for future EGS and supercritical geothermal projects.

Hartmann Valves offers robust wellhead solutions and metal-seated ball valves for extreme pressure and temperature ranges. The company’s metal-seated, grease-free ball valves and wellhead systems are custom-designed and specifically engineered for demanding HP/HT applications. The portfolio includes ball valves for hydraulic stimulation up to 11″ and 15,000 psi, as well as 9″ 10,000 psi ball valves for applications up to 500°C. They enable high reliability, wear resistance, and low downtime.

“Many developments that we are currently seeing in the European geothermal market are now also gaining significant momentum in Canada and North America, particularly in the area of EGS and HP/HT applications,” explains Martin Bakoš of Hartmann Valves GmbH.

The company therefore views Canada and North America as a strategically important growth market for geothermal and energy transition projects. By expanding existing networks and maintaining a presence at international industry events, such as Valve World Calgary and the World Geothermal Congress in Calgary, Hartmann Valves aims to further expand its activities in the North American market and build new partnerships in the fields of geothermal, frac, and HP/HT applications.
